Nature-Based Strategies for Shorelines, Slopes, Native Ecosystems & Climate-Resilient Landscapes

For over 25 years, Helping Nature Heal Inc. has worked alongside landowners, communities, and organizations to restore shorelines, care for erosion-prone landscapes, support native ecosystems, and strengthen climate resilience across Atlantic Canada.

Today, our work focuses on ecological consulting, education, restoration guidance, implementation oversight, and long-term stewardship planning.

We help people better understand how water, soil, plants, wildlife, and natural processes are connected across the landscape.

By learning to read the land and work with what is already happening, we can make thoughtful decisions that support healing, resilience, and long-term ecological health.

Property lines mark ownership. Ecosystems do not stop there—water, roots, wildlife, and natural processes move across the landscape.

Atlantic Canadian Ecological Knowledge, Grounded in Place

Helping Nature Heal Inc. is an ecological consultancy and education company specializing in shoreline restoration, native plant systems, erosion mitigation, ecological design, and climate-adaptive landscapes. Founded by Rosmarie Lohnes, an Environmental Professional with over 25 years of field experience, Helping Nature Heal Inc. works with municipalities, organizations, landowners, and communities to restore ecological function through nature-based strategies and participatory education.

Our approach combines scientific observation, hands-on ecological knowledge, native plant systems, shoreline stabilization strategies, and long-term stewardship practices rooted in the realities of Atlantic Canadian landscapes.

Our Ecological Process

01. Observe

We begin by studying the site as a living system. This may include shoreline conditions, slope, drainage, vegetation, erosion patterns, soil health, biodiversity, and the surrounding landscape context.

02. Understand

We connect what is happening on the property to the larger ecological system. Water, roots, soil, vegetation, habitat, and human use all shape the recommendations.

03. Guide

We provide consulting, education, restoration planning, native plant recommendations, monitoring systems, or implementation oversight based on the needs of the project.

04. Steward

Healthy landscapes require long-term care. We help clients monitor change, understand progress, and make decisions that support ecological resilience over time.

Start With the Land. Build With Nature.
